i No penalty on platform destruction

The platform on the surface emits a lot of pollution and because evolution permanently increases each jump it's easy to become overwhelmed and lose everything on the platform.

But that's about it.

Once you lose everything biters mill about and disappear. Everything on other platforms is completely safe and the terminal and loaders and the pipes are never attacked.

It's trivial to warp out. Mop up the biters that came with you and then ignore them.

Especially since you can deploy harvesters and a gate away from the platform and ignore all of the challenge.

Is this intended?

Well, actually I clearly agree, but I don't have any idea right now on how to prevent this "cheese".

Honestly, I like the fact that it makes it harder to get permanently stuck and gives leeway to players like me that stay only 3 minutes per jump because they don't make enough defenses.

On the other hand it is cheesy to all hell.

Personally if I knew how to make mods I would make a building that regenerates each jump like the warp gate but if it gets destroyed then all the progress you're making on the current research gets reset. It would give players a reason to defend the platform properly without cheese without killing a player dead if they get stuck.

i don't want a solution that would lock players in their progression / gameplay and prevents them from fixing their defense (it's not fun), but something needs to be done

The fact you can lose tech progression / tech level (for "non impacting" tech but required for progression, like warp generator) can be a solution.

I was also thinking about consuming energy (empty accumulators, force max energy consumption) / disabling electrified grounds / preventing the usage of harvesters while it's down (it's still only ideas).

And then i need to check what building to setup, starting when (because in the very early, before you have at least unlocked other platforms, it might just be a pain

I like seeing the vision that mod maker wants me to see so I play on default settings most of the time. Then I'll prod to to see if I can find a canny solution just like this one. Especially since other warptorios reset the evolution. Don't get me wrong. I like that danger escalates permanently and there's a 100% cap to evolution so it can only get so bad, but this one is particularly tough.
