Assault Spidertron


A more versatile alternative to the standard Spidertron. It features enhanced durability and a reworked arsenal: replacing three of its original four rocket launchers with a flamethrower, a machine gun, a small-caliber cannon, and a high-caliber main cannon that fires artillery shells. One rocket launcher remains as part of its default configuration. Additional customization options, including early unlocks, engine choices, and configurable weapon systems, make it a highly adaptable combat unit.

i Implement fuel usage from Spidertron Enhancements

For a consistent experience it would be good to have this spidertron follow the “Spidertron requires fuel” from Spidertron Enhancements.

That’s an interesting idea, and I’ll look into whether it can be combined with the way I’ve implemented things. My goal is to ensure that the option remains available in my Assault Spidertron Mod, even if Spidertron Enhancements isn’t installed.

It’s only been tested for a few minutes, so errors cannot be ruled out at this stage.

Why is the assault spidertron producing smoke as it walks, lol. I that that should be changed.

It only produces smoke when it uses a burner engine—otherwise, it’s a bug.
That’s completely logical, since burner engines rely on fuel combustion, which naturally creates smoke.

I understand the idea but it's inconsistent with the base spidertron that doesn't produce smoke with any fuel.

In startup settings I'm using the combination: enhancements + void. that shouldn't produce smoke if I understand correctly?

By the way (unrelated) are you interested in reviving the Tarantulator? I can't find it in the mod portal but I have the last versions of that mod.

If you select "Spidertron Enhancements Mod Settings": "mod-default" and Engine Type: "void" in my mod → no smoke
If you select "Spidertron Enhancements Mod Settings": "enhancements" (the engine type of my mod is ignored entirely when the other mod is installed) and Engine Type is void in the Spidertron Enhancements Mod itself → no smoke
All other combinations should produce smoke.

One clarification: The base Spidertron in Factorio never produces smoke, because its engine type is always void by default.

The Assault Spidertron originally had smoke when the mod was first released by Dave. All i did was to reapply, position and intensify it.

Regarding the Tarantulator Mod: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/tarantulator (seems like it hasn't been updated for quite a while).
Never used it myself, or better jet, didn't know of it ;) When i've got some more time i can take a look at it.

The Tarantulator had a railgun, it would be nice to have it back with the new vanilla railgun.

Now back to this mod, is it possible to have it not produce smoke when using the fuel option from spidertron enhancements?

Now after realizing that I have two more spidertrons that aren't getting the fuel requirement, railgun spidertron and tesla spidertron, I'm thinking that perhaps spidertron enhancements should be the one adding the fuel slot to all these mods. What do you think?

Smoke with Spidertron Enhancments:
Is it possible... sure it is ;) Question is, should it be a Mod option then?... I think yes!...

Adding the Fuel Slots:
To my knowledge the Spidertron Enhancments Mod does that for all "spider-vehicle" type Spidertrons. (maybe I am mistaken, after all it's not my own mod)
I only had to make it compatible because I've implemented the burner engine in the Assault Spidertron myself. (if I remember correctly)

You are able to deactivate the smoke in the Mod Settings!
