I'm feeling softlocked on Carnova as I can't get enough fresh metabolic science packs in order to increase the freshness of my ingredients. The problems I'm having are

  1. The "Freshness maintenance" technology requires 500 (~200 with biolabs and productivity) metabolic science packs. I cannot get this without scaling up.
  2. All Carnova related recipes do not reset freshness.
    2a. The combination of 1 and 2 mean that everything flesh related has a global lifetime of 1 hour and all of my piranha roe has a permanent lifetime of 5 minutes and I need to manually collect more when I run out, and have to purge my entire factory of flesh, proteins, and piranha roe before I add new ingredients.
  3. Nutrients are required in flesh reprocessing.
    3a. This also means I need to purge my entire factory of lipids and nutrients before I add new ingredients.
  4. There is a somewhat limited amount of piranha roe in the world. The more of it I use, the further out I have to travel to get it, and the more spoiled it is when I plug it into my factory.
  5. You cannot recycle biosynthesizers into fresh piranha roe, as you can on Gleba.
  6. The planet set I am using puts Carnova 50 000 km away from Nauvis. The ships I use take about 5 minutes to make this trip.

The net result of these issues causes me to make batches of ~100 metabolic science that are ~20% fresh and barely contribute to science once I can get them to Nauvis, then having to attempt to purge my entire base, collect new ingredients, and start over again. It is exhausting to constantly need to purge my bot base for diminishing returns each time, and I cannot bring myself to import all of the science needed to Freshness maintenance to Carnova. Is this intended?

The fact that roe and flesh don't renew their freshness in reproduction is a bug. Will fixing this bug be enough? Sooner or later, you'll be able to unlock enough research packs to unlock the refreshment technology, and then this won't be a problem.
You will be able to deliver the freshest science to Nauvis simply by having a circulating supply of lymph and a source of nutrients for the biosynthesizer on your space platform.
In my opinion, after fixing the bug, it will be enough to build a resource flow like on Gleba, with recycling or burning at the end of the path.

Yes, fixing renewing freshness on the reproduction recipe is more than enough to fix this.
I was under the impression that freshness maintenance was meant to be unlocked as soon as you entered Carnova and that everything you reproduced needed to be fed through a refreshment machine.

New response
