Spidertron Patrols

Send spidertrons on patrols and automatically load and unload them using docks. Adds mid-game spiderling to allow the new features to be used sooner. Simpler alternative to AAI Programmable Vehicles. Allows creating patrols for Lex's Aircraft.

i [Declined] Waypoint groups

Allow to split the waypoints into groups. When you add a new waypoint, you can add it to the end of a particular group, instead of adding it to the end of the list. The groups are still executed in order normally.

Should make it easier to set up a patrol path for the spiders that way.

Do you just mean a graphical grouping of waypoints in the GUI? I don’t really see how this would help? How would the mod decide which group to add a new waypoint to?

It would presumably make the UI quite a bit more complicated…

You select which way point group you want to add to.

The problem I face is that when I expand my boarder, I need to move the patrol path out, but the way it is, it requires me to move a massive amount of way points. Honestly I'd accept a bit more of gui clutter to fix that inconvenience.

Are you talking about grouping lots of spidertrons together so that you can easily change the patrol points for all of them at once?

No, I have a main spider with the others following it.
I needed to give it a long sweeping path to patrol a large swat of land to catch expanding bugs. But I'm setting up my walls, and I'll need to move it's patrol path outwards in some areas. But since waypoint always get added to the very bottom of the list, it's either redoing the entire path from that point, or a LOT of clicking.

That said, is there any way to get rid of waypoints that belong to dead spiders?

Sorry, I was pretty busy around the time you were posting these, and only just remembered about them!

I see your point about the groups, I'll have a think, but I'm struggling to think of a nice solution that preserves the simplicity for the 99% use case, and I'm not particularly keen to revisit the UI.

The waypoints not clearing when a spider dies is definitely a bug... I'll have to investigate that and try and fix it in the next few days.

I can't reproduce the waypoints staying when a spidertron dies and I'm not planning to redo the UI so I'm going to decline this suggestion for now.

2.2.0 clears all render objects when you update so if they were still around they'll be deleted after updating.

This is effectively implemented in v2.4.0 :)
