Spaghetorio

Spaghetorio is a Factorio mod that trades efficiency for glorious complexity, introducing new items, fluids, buildings and science packs to create absurdly intricate production chains. Currently in early alpha with players just reaching orbit, the mod is open for feedback to help tune balance.

I hope I'm not getting on your nerves. Still making my way to bots and I think I found another issue. Mining mercury requires potassium hydroxide, which can only be made in an advanced chemical plant. Unlocking that building requires Advanced Chemistry, which appears to be an endgame tech that requires (among other things) space science.
On bots, now that I have titanium, I can make both types of bots. But I seem to be hours and hours away from being able to make roboports because they require transformers (which require relays/mercury and Power Regulation, which is much harder to unlock than Robotics). It feels odd to be able to make the bots but not the ports. If this is intentional, I'd suggest a change.

No worries :) your comments help a lot for the development. I'll take a look tomorrow

Checking it out. Is the fact that roboports are so much farther down the tech tree from bots intentional?

Sorry, i did misread the second part of the your post. I think the prerequisites that are missing are geological science pack 2 -> mercury processing -> power regulation for building the roboports. I can add those technologies in the next update. What do you mean by "so much farther down the tech tree"? :) Is it because of the cost of geological science pack 2?

I kind of like the idea that roboports need some items from power regulation. Since relays contain in real life mercury thats kinda the reason why roboports are in that location of the tech tree

Yeah, now that I've set up the production lines and made roboports, it wasn't that bad. I still think it's unintuitive that you unlock ports but then need a whole additional science pack to make them. But when I made my suggestion, I thought you needed 2 additional science packs.

Just wanted to check in since I noticed the shout out on the main mod page. That was cool! Still loving the mod. Been busy rebuilding and massively expanding my base. Finally caught up to my old base and actually pushing farther into the tech tree.

I am currently revamping the agricultural / biological tree. Greenhouses will be gone / replaced by something else. Keep that in mind if you decide to build now a gigantic woodfarm.

Too late on the giant wood farm. But I can rebuild. I get most of my wood from destroying forests anyway.

Have you put much thought into power progression? Nuclear seems far away and I'm not sure solar makes sense for my base given my power demands. So as I expand in this part of the game, I'm relying on more and more coal. I'm in the process of setting up production of heating towers and heat exchangers so my coal power can be a little more compact. I have also considered building out gleba stuff for infinite rocket fuel. Maybe that's the play at this stage.

Are these the questions you envision players having in the middle of the second tier of science?

I noticed the power issue as well in my playthrough. My idea is to increase power production by 10-20 times for every power generation building. I will also be adding more fuels such that players do not have to have thousands of steam machines. I also plan to change the incinerator back to a gas power plant. The problem that i have, is that i can not make graphics for buildings so i have to wait for hurricane if he wants to make buildings that generate power. The other problem is that i am not good at scripting and therefore can not create custom ideas / concepts for different forms of power generation.

Currently my vision is just to add more intermediates :D

Just ran into another tech tree issue. Big mining drills require tungsten but are required to mine tungsten.

You get tungsten from volcanic rocks. I will add some information explaining this better :)

Of course. Just like vanilla.
