b BROKE

Something broke. Just standing here, I'm ticking +XP defences .. I'm not doing anything, not fighting anything, just standing in my base and it's just racking up XP.

Was on Cerys when it started, followed me to Fulgora and Nauvis.

I had this as well, it is likely turrets - biter farm on nauvis? I updated to accept XP from across the world as it seemed too slow for my overall aim. I could have overshot it.

I have moved on quite a few versions with internal testing for 2.0 and added1 skill so far that will take 100 points, they'll be others. This kind of relates to that.

What where the skill points for, what was the point? Is there something really interesting to grind for. Early game was pretty easy with tangible benefits, late game, not so much, I want some high costing skills that can give the player who wants to farm xp a bit of a goal - in this case it's a play on the iron man Armor.

Essentially I realised that it got to a point and it was like yeah, what ever, more research prod or w/e, the trade off for 2.0 will be losing out on more interesting upgrades. I have been checking against mods that increase the difficulty (Rampant being the main one) to keep the challenge relevant. Bear with me, and if it's too much for now consider reducing the XP gain.

You've given some really quality feedback in the past, so I would consider releasing my preclude to 2.0 now (1.99.5 or something) and adding options for surface XP.

My intent for 2.0 however is that each point feels important, in it's current testing state the XP curve or values have not been touched, so it's not quite ready.

Nope, if anything it's most definitely Rubia's trash world. That's the only place I have non-stop combat of any type. My biter farm on Nauvis is fairly small, only making what I need and recycling the rest to prevent accidental destruction, same on Gleba, uses mostly what it needs and prevents most spoilage from happening accidentally.

Asteroids happen every 5 minutes, so that gets a tad annoying to see every 5 minutes, and I did like the pop-ups for xp. Perhaps only provide pop-ups and messages for any xp gained in a radius around the player so it really only shows XP they've earned?

What about a tally sheet that shows in general where you gained XP over the last 5 minutes, a new tab in your skills window.

Also, this might actually require a full rebuild, but what about having multiple types of XP. Combat gives combat XP, research XP, logistics XP, etc, etc. That way the points actually feel like they're worth something, but also give a small "generic" point you can "convert" to any other type, so you're not always stuck lagging behind in a category if someone likes fighting more than building, etc. Could also use that to convert to your capstone skills ... Or, simply make it capstone XP(can bank it while you're waiting to unlock them) and allow them to convert their capstone XP to another type.

yeah, I hear you about the asteroid noise, I think what I will do as it's annoying, is push out my most recent test build (mostly behind the scene changes with the iron clad armour the only real addition)

An XP tree is planned for 2.0 to support different play styles, increase xp for certain activities etc.

What about a tally sheet that shows in general where you gained XP over the last 5 minutes, a new tab in your skills window.

I like this idea, I will throw it in as well. Viewable by hovering over the xp bar or in the skills window.

Few bits to change, but I imagine I will have a release out within half an hour or so.

Okay, looks to work.

As XP is refined we may find some balance, just assume it's going to be too little or too much for a hot minute and use the settings slider to adjust. When there is an xp balance pass I have no idea where to start other than multiple fresh runs to Aquillo at various speeds, I tend to do slow and very slow....
