Electric Furnaces can be used to boil water to 500°C steam. This steam can be later used to power steam turbines, providing a lot of energy.
1 electric furnace produces 40 steam/s, which produces (200 Joule / unit / Celsius) * 40 units * (500°C-15°C)/s = 3 880 000 Joules/s = 3.8 MW of energy, at the low cost of 186 kW consumption for the electric furnace, or less with efficiency modules, resulting in > 3.6 MW energy gain.
Since this is cheap in infrastructure, takes relatively little space, requires no upkeep and produces minimal pollution it makes all the other form of energy generation on Nauvis obsolete, so I assume this is an oversight.
