Freight Forwarding

A small overhaul with a focus on long-distance logistics variety. Transport containerized items across land and sea using trains and ships! First, venture to the edge of your starting island using trains to find lead, then set sail for offshore oil using tanker ships, dredge metallic nodules from the seabed, and recover titanium from other islands. Finally you'll be transporting materials to faraway lava pools to smelt titansteel, an essential ingredient in rocket parts.

b Can’t place signals on water

I’ve noticed you cannot place rail or chain signals on water. When I used the original Beautiful Bridge Railway mod, it did work, but with the modified version included in this modpack in place of that, I cannot place signals on bridge rails that are on water. Is this intentional?

Not exactly intentional, but collisions are very complicated so very easy for these things to happen. Your best bet is to use boat signals instead (signal buoys) - they can connect to rails as well as waterways.

Alternatively, you can use a single tile of landfill to make a tiny island for your signals, which looks silly but also cute :)

Well, as I mentioned, I could place signals on water when I played vanilla+ with the regular Beautiful Bridge Railway mod, so I’m assuming this is an issue with the Cargoships version (https://mods.factorio.com/mod/beautiful_bridge_railway_Cargoships) or some weird conflict. I’m not sure why it’s possible when playing with the regular bridge mod but not possible in the Freight Forwarding modpack.
