Freight Forwarding

A small overhaul with a focus on long-distance logistics variety. Transport containerized items across land and sea using trains and ships! First, venture to the edge of your starting island using trains to find lead, then set sail for offshore oil using tanker ships, dredge metallic nodules from the seabed, and recover titanium from other islands. Finally you'll be transporting materials to faraway lava pools to smelt titansteel, an essential ingredient in rocket parts.

b [Resolved] Transport science pack not used

Currently about to start a run with K2 + BZ and a bunch of QoL mods and the Transport Science Pack is a prerequisit for the boats, tanks and all that but none of them actually use that pack in their research.
Ignore the massive research cost, my group is filled with weirdos that want that

Hey, can you share your save please? Or at least your modlist?

After some testing I noticed it only seems to be a issue when "Impossible more then difficult" startup setting on K2 is enabled. Does say not to report bugs regarding it but assuming that's just to K2 devs.

Ah ok, probably best not to use that setting then. Maybe try https://mods.factorio.com/mod/technology-overload instead?

RedRafe looked into this a bit further and found that that setting uses the technology normal/expensive modes, which pretty much zero other mods use, so FF does not support. I think I could fix it from FF, but it would be quite a hassle, so isn't a priority. Furthermore, the normal/expensive technology and recipe modes will be removed in 2.0 anyway (and I suspect that K2 will remove/change that mod setting in K2 2.0 as well).

All in all, you'll have to disable that setting, and future versions of FF will probably force that setting to be hidden and off, sorry.

I've also been informed that the Technology Overload mod I suggested is not recommended with FFK2BZ, as with its default Fibonacci scaling, the last tech will require 700G science :)

Ye, no worries. We settled at normal factorio expensive mode and 100x science cost. So far 6.5 hours in and researching steel furnaces, so far pretty fun
