Engineers vs Environmentalist Redux is a Factorio 2.0 overhaul rewrite focused on coherent progression, cleaner infrastructure, and safer modernization of the original EvE concept.
The current release includes meaningful Space Age-aware progression work, compatibility-aware Quality support, improved early-game power and automation flow, and ongoing balance and graphics cleanup.
This rewrite focuses on making the mod feel like a real playable foundation instead of a loose compatibility port. The logistics ladder has been rebuilt so that vanilla yellow, red, blue, and Space Age turbo sit in one proper chain before EvE green and purple extend the late game. Research, recipe unlocks, upgrade paths, runtime tech sync, and save migration behavior have all been aligned around that progression.
The current release line also hardens the early game by restoring the baseline for boilers, steam engines, starter poles, pipes, offshore pumping, burner inserters, and first-stage automation. This makes new runs much more stable and much easier to understand than older builds.
On the content side, the mod now ships with a new crusher visual family for the current crusher tiers, while the rest of the overhaul continues moving toward a cleaner art and consistency pass.
CURRENT SUPPORT STATUS
Space Age:
Space Age is currently supported at a real progression-integration level, not just "loads without crashing." The current release understands the vanilla 2.0 plus turbo logistics ladder and places EvE's green and purple tiers after it in a deliberate chain.
Quality:
Quality support is currently best described as compatibility-aware rather than fully rebalance-driven. The mod includes 2.0-era schema and effect normalization work so it behaves more safely in modern setups, but it is not yet being marketed as fully balanced around Quality as a major gameplay pillar.
BALANCE EXPECTATIONS
The mod is no longer rudimentary, but it is also not yet a finished balance pass for every optional setup.
The most accurate expectation to set is:
- Progression: increasingly coherent
- Space Age integration: meaningful and intentional
- Quality integration: compatibility-safe, but not a dedicated full rebalance target yet
- Overall tuning: still in active iteration
KNOWN ISSUES
Some belt-family graphics and visual consistency may still need polish in the current release line. Gameplay progression and infrastructure are ahead of the final graphics pass right now, so some entities may still show visual mismatches or imperfect presentation while the underlying progression work settles.
SUPPORT NOTE BLOCK
This release is built for Factorio 2.0 and includes Space Age-aware progression work, especially across the logistics ladder and post-vanilla transport tiers. Quality-era compatibility work is present, but the mod is not yet advertised as fully rebalanced around every optional 2.0 feature. Current priorities are progression clarity, save stability, and infrastructure cleanup, with further balance and graphics polish continuing across upcoming releases.
