Harness the power of quantum instability in order to break minable ores down to an Unstable Isotope, then process this Isotope into other minable ores. The rules are as follows:
- All ores can be broken down in the Alchemical Furnace (a new structure). This produces Unstable Isotope fluid at a rate of 1-10.
- Ore Synthesis recipes are available for all basic ores (Iron/Copper/stone/coal). These cost 20 Unstable Isotope to generate 1 ore, producing basic ores at a 50% loss.
- A Basic Ore Generation recipe is available, which produces a spread of basic ores and Unstable isotope. This costs 2 Unstable Isotope and produces 1 of each result at 50% probability.
- Advanced Ore Generation recipes are available for every other ore. These cost 2 Unstable Isotope and produce the specified primary ore, basic ores and Unstable Regolith at a probability of 80% for the primary ore and 10% for everything else.
- Unstable Regolith is a junk product that's not used for anything. It can be disposed of in the Alchemical Furnace, in return for Unstable Isotope.
- Every stat mentioned above can be tweaked in Mod Settings, along with crafting speed and a few other things. Check each setting's tooltips for more information.
The above recipes are gated behind 3 Technologies:
- Alchemical Ore Conversion: Unlocks the Alchemical Furnace, all Unstable Recipes and Stable recipes for basic ores. Requires Oil Processing
- Basic Ore Generation: Unlocks the Basic Ore Generation recipe. Requires Advanced oil processing and Alchemical Ore Conversion.
- Advanced Ore Generation: Unlocks Advanced Ore Generation recipes for non-basic ores. Requires Basic Ore Generation.
And remember - this isn't magic. You're not a wizard pouring coloured liquids between beakers. This is science! You're an engineer pumping coloured liquids between industrial facilities. There's a world of difference.
Space Age:
Alchemical Ore Conversion is now compatible with Space Age, and in what I consider to be a "good" way. By default, Stable recipes will be generated for basic ores only - Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Stone, Coal. Unstable recipes will be generated for everything but Scrap (as that's really not an ore). To generate anything besides those, you'll need a couple of new Ore Generation technologies. Those consume Water and Unstable Isotope to produce a spread of ores with various probabilities. So basic ores convert into each other at a loss, advanced ores are generated in a random manner and need to be sorted/filtered/etc. Consequently, I'm removing the "Cheats" tag, for this is no longer a cheat in my opinion.
