Advanced Quality adds a new XP system based on a simple idea: what you do is what improves.
The system has two main pillars — crafting and accumulation.
Crafting introduces a new machine and the key feature — the Advanced assembling machine. It can combine ingredients of different qualities and produce a result with a clearer, fairer chance, but never above the global craft quality cap. Quality modules work differently here: instead of weakly stacking into the craft quality chance, they run their own separate check for a +1 quality upgrade. That removes the “ghost” chance of jumping +2 from the current tier. Best used with Advanced assembling machines: the first (mix) and second (module) rolls are separate, so the final outcome can still surprise you.
The second pillar is accumulation: most equipment and armor-grid modules gain XP from specific actions. When the bar fills, quality rises by +1. This path can raise quality past the global craft cap; while that cap is still low, XP gain is penalized. Exact XP methods and thresholds are in the in-game help.
For automating Advanced assembling machines there is also the Comparing inserter — an inserter combined with a selector/combinator-style quality filter.
