This is a modpack designed to make a bunch of mods play nicely together, and adds some things of its own.
The mod is intended to be played in a new save, as it changes some content in the early/mid game.
New mod
There are definitely rough edges so please, help me out by voicing your opinions in the discussion section and contacting me on Discord via the official Factorio server. (i am more active on Discord than here)
You can talk about anything, bad balance, bugs, niche use cases, etc.
Or you could even help with mod development. ;)
Better trains!
In 2.0 trains got so much QOL, UX and usability features, as well as acceleration upgrades due to fuel quality, and elevated rails allowing very long trains. I wanted to utilize trains by making them even more strategic and nuanced than they already were.
Weight matters - Empty trains are lighter and faster than loaded trains. You can now focus on optimizing the distance your trains travel when loaded.
Quality affects capacity - A new layer of improvement. Higher quality wagons have the same stats, but higher capacity, meaning your trains can be just as short, but carry much more materials! Less wagons also means less friction, so higher fuel efficiency and acceleration per item. But beware, weight still matters!
Maglev train - A new tier of train meant for much higher speeds, more wagons and longer distances. It out-powers your current train and has double the top speed with lower friction and air resistance, but has lower cargo capacity, braking force and fuel efficiency. The lower fuel efficiency is offset by its low friction and air resistance at high speed, and the lower cargo capacity means you have to build longer trains, which fits well with long-distance travel.
Strategic nuance - The cargo and fluid wagons aren't without differences! Instead of just changing the cargo capacity, their friction is also different, further solidifying the Nauvis locomotive as a short low-speed train and the Maglev as a long high-speed train.
Infinite train braking force research, meaning the Maglev train will become more and more relevant as you progress in this technology.
All these changes aim to make trains much more nuanced, strategic and interesting to play with, while also being more powerful than Vanilla Space Age in the end game!
Castra, Cerys and Maraxsis!
Adding a few, well selected and very cool planets.
