Suspension Coffin provides a diegetic way to accelerate time while waiting for research, production, logistics, or other factory processes (time travel, cryosleep chamber, cryo chamber, stasis chamber).

Instead of using game-speed controls, the engineer enters a physical suspension chamber. The simulation smoothly accelerates toward 100× speed while the interface fades away and player interaction is disabled.

How to use

  1. Research Suspension Coffin after unlocking cryogenic science.
  2. Craft and place the coffin on any planetary surface.
  3. Enter it using the normal vehicle control.
  4. Wait while the factory continues operating at accelerated speed.
  5. Press the vehicle control again to exit. Normal 1× speed and player controls are restored immediately.

Circuit control

Suspension Coffins can be connected to the circuit network and configured with an Enabled if condition.

If the condition becomes false while the coffin is occupied, suspension is immediately cancelled, the engineer is ejected, and regular 1× speed resumes. This allows the factory to programmatically wake the player when resources run low, production stops, an alarm is triggered, or another condition requires attention.

A disabled coffin cannot be entered until its circuit condition becomes true again.

Notes

  • The configured maximum game speed is 100×, but the actual acceleration depends on your computer and factory size.
  • A regular-sized Space Age save may run at approximately 900 UPS, resulting in roughly 15× actual time acceleration.
  • This accelerates the simulation rather than skipping it. The entire factory continues to be calculated normally.
  • Game speed is global in multiplayer. It remains accelerated until the last suspended player exits, so the mod may not work particularly well in multiplayer.
  • Coffins cannot be built on space platforms.
