g Rural mode removed?

Hey Crethor,

Thanks for the wonderful mod. I’ve had a lot of fun with it!

I was coming back to the game after a break and noticed that this rewritten version of SiF has had rural mode removed. Looking at the patch notes, it seems like it’s supposed to be there, but it’s not.

I’m wondering if that’s intentional or if that’s something meant only for the archived version of the mod. In the current version, I only see options for Demolisher, Storm, Frozen, and Cheat code.

Yea the rewrite removed rural mode, as I turned my attention to planet Foliax. Which is rural mode dialed to 11. You can add planets to space is fake now and their content should be playable on Nauvis. Foliax has specific compat with SiF.

Ah, I see!

Testing it out, it looks like I'd add Foliax but then turn off all resource generation during world gen so that I only harvest seeds from trees, which essentially gets me back to rural mode the way it was. I think. I'll play around with it and see.

Quick follow up, just after poking around with SiF + Foliax for a few minutes:

The one thing that jumps out at me looking at the tech tree is that there's a fair amount of overlap with Foliax and Space Age tech. For example, Foliax and Space Age both have a foundry but have different requirements for the same machine. It might make sense to match and compress similar tech in the tree if it's not a huge logistical hurdle, just for the sake of continuity and eliminating redundant research paths.

I can see how it might be a problem, if other mods have different requirements and SiF is supposed to accommodate technologies from other planets. For the base game + DLC tech, though, it seems logical.

I don't know, so just throwing it out there as a consideration.

Yes. But also, what I've learned from the past 8 months of "compatibility" is that the less I touch the base game, the easier it is on my sanity. So, I make things run adjacent now and try not to modify the base game. Just give the player an alternative path.

Haha, totally fair. Thanks again for such a great mod. I'm enjoying the Foliax / SiF integration quite a bit. :D
