Changelog

Version: 0.3.0
Date: 2026-10-30
  Major Features:
    - Gold solar farm: gold heliostats placed in the build zone around a solar steam tower reflect
sunlight onto it, and the tower boils water into 165 °C steam, up to 6 MW. The tower works
like a heat exchanger with a thermal battery: it warms up in the sun, keeps making steam
for a while after dark and cools down when idle. Its build zone is shown tile by tile while
a heliostat or a tower is in hand. Unlocked by Gold solar concentration (wood + steam +
      pyrolysis science packs).
    - Solar steam tower quality: a better tower takes more heat from the same heliostats and
passes more on to the water (legendary: 2.5x). Gold heliostats have no quality.
    - The solar steam tower is a tall building: elevated rails cannot be built over it, it is
translucent with "Hide tall entities", and elevated rails and trains passing behind it are
      drawn behind the tower.
    - Fertilized tree seed: tree seed + spoilage. Grows 40% faster and gives 60% more wood, and
spoils back into a tree seed after 15 minutes. Unlocked by Wood fermentation.
  Features:
    - Cheese's Concentrated Solar: heliostats and towers of both mods work together.
    - New startup setting "Easy: Early stone walls".
    - The pyrolysis science pack technology has its own icon.
  Changes:
    - Wood Pyrolysis is a required dependency again and works alongside this mod: its technology,
chemical plant pyrolysis, wood gas, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, bio-oil distillation,
Bakelite and methanol fuel are all there as Wood Pyrolysis made them. Biochar and
pyrolysis oil, their names and icons come from Wood Pyrolysis.
    - This mod's own pyrolysis is the "Furnace pyrolysis" technology with the "Wood pyrolysis
(furnace)" and peat pyrolysis recipes in the desiccation furnace.
    - Wood Pyrolysis' own technology also takes the pyrolysis science pack. The vanilla lab and
      the biolab accept the pack.
    - Removed the Nutrients from spoilage recipe; spoilage goes into fertilized seeds instead.
    - Wooden barrel (iron) is unlocked by Steam power and can be crafted by hand. The "Wooden
      barrels (Nauvis)" technology is removed.
    - Precision module technology moved to the Steam tier (wood + steam science packs).
    - Lignumis' own gold low density structure recipe is left untouched and makes the regular
      low density structure again.
  Compatibility:
    - Saves: researched pyrolysis carries over to Furnace pyrolysis, and technology effects are
      re-applied.
  Bugfixes:
    - Bio-culture and treated lumber no longer use the fuel_category field removed in Factorio 2.1.20.
Version: 0.2.0
Date: 2026-10-04
  Major Features:
    - Added the bio-fermentation chain, split into two technologies:
"Wood fermentation" (prerequisites: Steam science pack, Steam automation) and
"Bio-fermentation" (prerequisites: Pyrolysis science pack, Wooden barrels).
    - New fluids: Organic sludge, Bio-mash, Biofuel (3MJ fuel value). All three can be
barreled in wooden barrels via barreling_machines.
    - New item: Bio-culture. A living starter that spoils into spoilage after 5 minutes,
has 1MJ fuel value and regrows itself from spoilage.
    - Added the Burner offshore pump (100 L/s, burner-powered, 40kW). Unlocked by Wood
      fermentation.
    - Added the fermenting barrel: Bio-mash wooden barrel spoils after 2 minutes into
Biofuel wooden barrel, which is emptied with the regular auto-generated recipe.
  Features:
    - Wood fermentation unlocks: Bio-culture (from seed), Bio-culture cultivation, Rot
(slow start), Rot (cultured), Organic sludge from spoilage, Spoilage from organic
sludge, Nutrients from spoilage, Burner offshore pump.
    - Bio-fermentation unlocks: Bio-mash, Treated lumber (organic sludge), Low density
structure, wood (organic sludge), Explosives (organic), and the Bio-mash wooden barrel
      fill recipe.
    - Added the Nutrients from spoilage recipe (spoilage + wood). Nutrients were previously
unreachable on Lignumis because there is no bio chamber.
    - Added an Explosives recipe that needs no sulfur (biochar + spoilage + organic sludge).
    - Lignumobile (lignumis >= 2.6.0) now has a 4x2 equipment grid, 30 inventory slots,
remote driving (allow_remote_driving) and built-in chart vision
(chunk_exploration_radius = 2). Applied only if lignumis provides the Lignumobile.
    - Lignumobile recipe replaced with a Lignumis-native one: 10 gold plate, 8 treated lumber,
8 wooden gear wheel, 5 gold pipe, 4 biochar, 2 low density structure (wood),
3 basic circuit board, 1 basic radar.
    - Lignumobile technology now requires Composite materials instead of Automation science
pack and costs 50 x (wood + steam + pyrolysis science packs, 10s), so it no longer
      requires leaving Lignumis.
    - Added the Wooden barrel (iron) recipe and the "Wooden barrels (Nauvis)" technology
(25 x automation science pack) for playthroughs that never touch Lignumis' own tree.
    - Added optional support for Any Planet Start: the target planet follows its setting.
  Changes:
    - Pyrolysis science pack: 1 gold plate replaced by 1 bio-culture in the recipe.
    - Pyrolysis science pack technology now also requires Wood fermentation.
    - Advanced rocketry now requires Bio-fermentation. The Cargo landing pad technology
      prerequisite is gone (see below).
    - Precision rocket part: 5 pyrolysis oil replaced by 5 biofuel.
    - The Cargo landing pad technology was removed. The Cargo Landing Pad building
(precision-cargo-terminal) is now unlocked by Steel processing, as it is built on the
      destination planet from base-game materials.
    - Basic circuit board is now used unconditionally (no dependence on the
"lignumis-basic-circuit-board" startup setting) in the Precision rocket silo (100),
Precision rocket part (5), Precision module (1) and Lignumobile (3). If lignumis does
not define the item at all, gold cable is used instead of crashing.
    - Burner lamp and Burner lamp (copper) no longer get the extra 2 basic circuit boards.
    - The wooden barrel recipe (lignumis compat) now costs 1 treated lumber + 1 gold plate,
and the Wooden barrels technology now requires Wood treatment and costs
      50 x (wood + steam science packs, 15s).
    - Wooden barrels have no recycling recipe of their own: both barrel recipes have
auto_recycle and allow_decomposition disabled, so a barrel put into a recycler is
      returned as itself.
    - Removed the Steam car (entity, item, recipe, technology, equipment grid and tank gauge
GUI) and the Compressed steam canister (both recipes) with its fuel category. Its role
is taken over by the Lignumobile.
    - The mod now fully replaces wood-pyrolysis, gold-ammo, precision-module and
lignumis-steam-car, and is incompatible with all four.
  Balancing:
    - Peat fuel value 8MJ -> 2MJ. At 8MJ peat was stronger than coal (4MJ), and Peat
pyrolysis (10 peat -> 6 biochar) lost two thirds of its energy; it is now
      net-positive (20MJ in -> 24MJ out).
    - Bio-fermentation recipes are tuned after the Decomposer mod: Organic sludge from
spoilage is 50 spoilage + 25 water -> 50 sludge, Spoilage from organic sludge is
      50 sludge -> 50 spoilage.
  Bugfixes:
    - Fixed a progression deadlock: the Burner offshore pump needed treated lumber, which is
unlocked by Wood treatment, which sits behind the Pyrolysis science pack, which needs
bio-culture, which needs water from this pump. The pump now uses plain lumber.
    - Fixed Bio-fermentation and Advanced rocketry being researchable without Wooden barrels,
although biofuel can only be obtained by emptying the fermenting barrel. Bio-fermentation
      now requires Wooden barrels.
    - Fixed Wood fermentation not requiring the technology that unlocks the steam assembling
machine, in which all of its recipes are crafted. It now requires Steam automation.
    - Fixed a crash when a shuttle rocket delivered cargo to a planet whose surface had never
been generated. The starting area is now force-generated first, and a chat message is
shown the first time this happens.
    - Fixed the target planet always resolving to Nauvis. The mod now reads the same startup
settings as Lignumis ("aps-planet", then "lignumis-second-planet", then Nauvis)
instead of a storage key that never existed in this mod's storage.
    - Fixed a recycler exploit: the vanilla Transport belt and Transport belt (treated
lumber) recipes no longer auto-generate recycling, so a wooden belt can no longer be
recycled into iron plates and gears that do not exist on Lignumis.
    - Disabled auto-recycling on the new shared-item recipes (wooden barrel, spoilage,
nutrients, explosives) for the same reason.
  Modding:
    - New dependencies: barreling_machines >= 0.2.0 (required), any-planet-start (optional).
    - New incompatibilities: wood-pyrolysis, gold-ammo, lignumis-steam-car (precision-module
      was already incompatible).
    - Added the Lignumobile override prototype file (equipment grid "lignumobile-equipment-grid").
    - Rewrote DEV-NOTES.md as structured developer documentation (design philosophy, tech
tree, chains, code rules, rejected ideas, open risks, release checklist).
    - Removed the Steam car content file, the unused composite.lua and distillation.lua
(neither was required from data.lua in 0.0.1) and thumbnail.png.
    - Updated the mod description in info.json.
    - Added changelog.txt to the mod package.
  Graphics:
    - Added fluid icons for Organic sludge, Bio-mash and Biofuel.
    - Removed the Steam car and Compressed steam canister graphics.
    - New items and technologies use placeholder icons with a small "upgrade planner" badge
(Bio-culture, Burner offshore pump, bio recipes, Wood fermentation, Bio-fermentation).
  Locale:
    - Added English and Russian names and descriptions for everything new: Bio-culture,
Organic sludge, Bio-mash, Biofuel, Burner offshore pump, the fermenting barrel, the
Loading terminal, all new recipes and the technologies Wood fermentation,
      Bio-fermentation and Wooden barrels (Nauvis).
    - Added the "surface-generated" message.
    - Updated the Pyrolysis science pack, Advanced rocketry and Cargo landing pad texts to
match the new recipes and unlocks.
    - Moved the Gold-Tipped Ammunition description to the technology descriptions and added
      the Precision Module technology description.
    - Removed the Steam car, Compressed steam canister, Compressed steam fuel category and
Cargo landing pad technology strings, and the unused Low density structure (gold)
strings that overrode the base mod's own names.
