Flamethrower Overhaul
Vanilla flamethrowers use crude oil, but crude is far too viscous to flow properly through the delicate nozzle systems. Light and heavy oils lack sufficient energy density for effective combustion. This mod introduces a fuel system using petroleum gas thickened with carbon - creating a proper napalm-like fuel that flows smoothly yet burns intensely.
Warning: Flame streams will damage your own structures, including gun turrets caught in the fire path!
Key Features
- Thickened Fuel System: Convert petroleum gas into viscous flamethrower fuel using coal and water
- Fuel Progression: Basic thickened petroleum → Enhanced flamethrower fuel
- Enhanced Ammunition: Improved handheld ammo with 5x damage and 1.5x area
- Fully Configurable: Damage, consumption, range, arc, stream speed, and target leading all adjustable
- Rebalanced by Default: 10% vanilla damage with 10x fuel consumption (both configurable)
Fuel Types
- Thickened Petroleum (Basic): 80 petroleum-gas + 1 coal + 30 water → 90 fuel
- Enhanced Fuel (Advanced):
- Space Age: 500 thickened-petroleum + 1 sulfur + 50 jelly → 600 enhanced fuel
- Base Game: 500 thickened-petroleum + 1 sulfur + 50 light-oil → 600 enhanced fuel
- Puff-Gas (Optional): 1.5x damage boost when Boompuff Agriculture is installed
Compatibility
- ✅ Space Age: Uses calcite and jelly in enhanced fuel recipe
- ✅ Boompuff Agriculture: Adds puff-gas as alternative fuel
- ✅ Crushing Industry: Uses crushed-coal instead of coal in thickened-petroleum recipe

Crude oil, heavy oil, light oil, and petroleum gas are no longer accepted as flamethrower fuel. All flamethrowers now require thickened petroleum or better.
