Less grind. More factory.
I built Factorio Light for myself. I wanted to keep playing Factorio, but
spend less time grinding and more time designing and building. I enjoy working
out how a factory should run; I just want to get more of it built in the time
I have to play.
If that sounds like your kind of Space Age, this mod might be for you too.
What changes?
- Legendary benefits, without Quality. Machines, equipment and weapons get
their legendary bonuses as standard. No quality rolls, no quality modules,
no sorting through five versions of the same item. Research still unlocks
your machinery as you progress. - Nothing spoils. Stockpile food, nutrients and agricultural science, then
work on Gleba at your own pace. Grow iron and copper bacteria through
incubation and turn them into ore with isolation recipes. You can make your
first nutrients from yumako mash by hand. - Supply your ships from orbit. Barrel water, thruster fuel and oxidizer on
one platform and send them to another. Build a fuel depot, keep your ships
supplied, and send the empty barrels back. Barreling works on platforms for
every fluid except steam and fusion plasma. - Steel chests in space. Keep supplies close to the machines that need
them, with chest storage on your platforms. - Compact loaders. Four tiers of 1×1 loaders, adapted from Krastorio 2,
unlock alongside their matching splitters. - A better starting gun. Start with a submachine gun and a full stack of
yellow ammo. The SMG is craftable from the start; the pistol is gone.
This makes the game easier on purpose. Enemies keep their normal stats, so
your improved equipment gives you an advantage there too.
Getting started
Requires Factorio 2.1.24+ in the 2.1 series and Space Age. Start a new game
with Space Age, Elevated Rails and Recycler enabled. Disable Quality and
No Quality, No Problem. Existing Quality saves aren't supported.
The mod is built around vanilla Space Age. Compatibility with large overhaul
mods isn't guaranteed, but bug reports are welcome.
