g Works without SA?

Granted, I'm playing with a ton of mods, but I don't play with SA and it doesn't seem to work. You talk a lot about SA on the mod page, but SA is not marked as a hard dependency, so I dunno. Is it supposed to work on vanilla?

Yep, everything you'd expect to work should work! Which part isn't working? It's possible I overlooked something.

Well, I installed a forked version of Clockwork for 2.0 and that seems to do what I want. But I'm still using the flares from this mod.
Basically, the multiplier wasn't working properly, but all the other features worked.

I just tested peak darkness, day-night cycle duration and night only mode and they all work flawlessly without Space Age enabled.

Dunno, it's probably one of the mods I have interfering with the day/night cycle, or overwriting your setting. The forked version of Clockwork does work for me, if you wanted to take a look at how they do things
