Make nights pitch black, customise the lengths of day/night cycles, enable night only attacks and darken space platforms as they get further from the sun! All configurable.

i [2.0 - Space Age] Suggestion - Alternate "night attack" mode setting concept

Hey there DataCpt, I'm a big fan of the movie Pitch Black if you're familiar.

With the ability in the mod to make nights longer, your latest addition of night-only attacks gave me the idea of maybe a harder setting in which you get normal attacks during the day, but biters get more aggressive and launch random attacks at night? Or maybe wave-defence style all-out attack? I'd love to crank up the night length and have to really bunker down to survive nightly attacks, while expanding during the safer slim daylight hours.

I will admit I'm looking for anything to scratch my Rampant itch until smart biters have returned to us. :P

Thanks again for your great mods and all the work you put into them!

I'm not familiar but I will try to watch it!

The performance free options are very very limited, I might be able to play around with the map settings to somewhat achieve what you're talking about.

The main problem with that is the mod becomes somewhat "destructive" when removed after that kind of change is made. Removal at night means more attacks forever. Would need a big warning and a safe removal method.

The other option would involve manipulating the enemies much more manually (rampant style) but that can very quickly bring you into UPS killer territory.

I'll look into it more.

Oh that's fair, thanks a lot for the explanation and looking in to it. I think it would be safe if the option was opt-in only and it was clear that disabling it requires forethought and daytime. At least that way folk wouldn't be likely to enable the option without reading the tooltip, or perhaps a warning popup when it's enabled (if you can even do that?) letting folk know. I like that you keep things performant, though, so you do you there!

Also keeping it potentially compatible with Rampant if it makes its way to 2.0 and Space Age because your series of mods would be <chefkiss> excellent with Rampant. I love having to manage pollution, or deal with frequent attacks and the smart biters forced me to improve my defences as a secondary facet of gameplay. Really felt like I was taming a world that did not want me there and I can't wait to see what ideas they come up with for the other planets.
