g Fulgora start is iron deficient

It takes 5 red belts of scrap to produce 1 yellow belt of iron plates and thats if you recycle every gear. Which you wont do because lots of recipes need gears and gear = 2 plates so you're just deleting iron to get iron. So lets say you keep half the gears thats 10 red belts of scrap you need to be processing to produce 1 yellow belt of iron plates. The footprint on this is massive and untenable given the small islands we are building on and it takes a shitload of iron to make the recycler sorting setups

Idk I just didn't enjoy that part I would increase the iron gain somehow. Maybe furnace steel to get back iron? or just recycle it? Nothing else was really an issue.

Thanks for making this mod!

edit: Im gonna send down iron from a massive stationary space platform

You're welcome!

Only thing I really want to say about Fulgora being iron deficient: Yes, it is.
On default settings, iron really is a problem, though there is a couple ways of getting it besides recycling gears. You could recycle batteries to get iron, concrete to get iron ore (though it's pretty bad), even green circuits can give you iron - and once you get to space, you can send down iron ore from asteroids to help supplement it all. You have to do it for military science

Part of the trick is also finding a good island to start on, one that has a decent amount of scrap and at least a little bit of space, instead of building on one of the tiny islands. Scrap productivity is a research you can get pretty early on, so that will make the patches last a little longer.

As a last resort, you could always change the map settings to make Fulgora a little more bearable, if that's the kind of thing that suits your fancy.

I like that there's a bit of a challenge there, it forces players to be creative and find other ways besides gears to get iron - most of the iron in a normal base is going to either steel or gears, and since you don't really need to craft those, you do end up needing less iron plate than usual, despite it still being the main bottleneck.

Even if I'm probably not going to change it, thanks for the feedback, and for playing the mod! I'm glad the rest of Fulgora wasn't a problem.

You're right. Once I got bots and some productivity research it came out okay. I made space iron farms which mostly went to steel actually. I ended up adding factorissimo which solved the space issue. A bit cheaty but I just couldn't hack it. I filled like 3 with accumulators and did some rebuilding. Switched to all bots. Now I'm about to head to nauvis because I want uranium real bad! Thanks again what a blast.

Wow, base looks great! I really like that ship design as well.
