I tried speedrunning vulcanus to space today. First run managed to get 2h23m. I found that the tungsten distribution is really badly balanced and I think it requires some changes. Only way to get tungsten is to mine rocks, kill demolishers, or research big mining drills (which requires blue science). These are all really slow processes, so when trying to optimise the early game, there is physically no way to go faster than a pretty slow pace after you get your first ~13 foundries up. 13 is roughly how many you can make with the tungsten gained when mining the bare minimum amount of iron ore to make and run the first foundry. And that is like 20 minutes of mining rocks lol. Killing demolishers is not much better as the rocks only drop 2x as much tungsten, so the time spend killing the demolisher is probably more than you save on chopping. And big mining drills unlock way too late to be useful since blue is the last tech level you need to escape the planet anyway.
I heard that you already rebalanced Gleba so that the pentapods were not so impossible to deal with. Is there any chance we can discuss possible ways to improve the balance for vulcanus? I think it could be a very popular and rewarding speedrun category if tungsten were to be rebalanced.
