Start on any of the first three planets: Vulcanus, Gleba, or Fulgora.
Choose your planet in the startup mod settings before starting a new game.
Now compatible with some modded planets!
If you start on Vulcanus, the only way to build a fully automated science setup, is by unlocking Foundries first.
This tech requires you to research "Automation 2" and "Concrete", both of which require red science to unlock.
When you play with a science cost multiplier (e.g. 1k), this becomes a big problem since you need 40k science to unlock both of them.
Ooh, that's something I forgot about. I'll fix starting techs for all planets next update, just need to add an ignore multiplier property to the technologies.
