I thought this problem only applied to plutonium reactors from the Cerys mod, but after pulling wires, mods, and my hair, I discovered it was applying to all machines.
Ejector hatches couldn't be used because I couldn't put them on any of my machines.
After pulling more mods, I discovered that the bug has nothing to do with Cerys. It appears to be caused by the Planet Omnia mod.
Mod interaction: Planet Omnia prevents Ejector Hatches from being placed on buildings.
