b Breaking Change! Will not run with Factorio Experimental Version 2.0.66

Factorio Version 2.0.65 Changed some Inserter Stuff.
This Mod wont run with it.
Might stay this way might get changed before Stable.

I know I cant expect mods to work with experimental versions.
But I tought I should let someone know. Before this hits stable.

Nothing was fixed before the update went live and now I can't load my save. is there not a way to just put out a compatibility hotfix to manually install that sets thrower long inserters to range 16 and runs a script to deactivate existing ones so we can go in and fix our bases?

If you want a temporary fix you can roll back to 2.0.65
Thats what I did.
Update 66 doesnt even add that much you arent missing much.

I modified the code so that all throwers start with 15 range while the game is loading so that it at least wont crash. This means that when you're placing the throwers in game, long handed throwers and Ejector hatches will look like that have 15 range. When you place Ejector hatches they will snap back out to 20, and the long handed throwers can be adjusted up to 25. It's kind of a band-aid fix but it's at least playable. If anyone finds any odd interactions lemme know

any way to make it remember the distance set to before the update? upon loading the game i got severe lag after seconds, reloading the game and immediately having bots unplug all of my power production, after just a few seconds i have approximately 15k items on the ground because all ejector hatches distance got reset and in order to change the distance i have to remove and place them all and reset their distances

i actually can't change the distance on any ejector hatches, can't fix my base with how much i relied on hatches/ejector hatches that are not 20 tiles apart

At the moment you would have to break and replace them, but I think I have an idea on how to adjust them all at once. I'll post an update for that when I figure it out

Just to clarify, when you updated to v2.2.5 of my mod, it did NOT readjust the Ejectors back to 20 range? From what I tested before it should have.

Also you're not supposed to be able to change the distance on Ejector hatches, the arrow while you're holding it will be inaccurate, but it should snap out to 20 when it's placed

from our experience when you get the technology for adjusting the distance for throwing inserters it also applied to ejector hatches. as of now all hatches are set to 20 where they don't work with how they did prior to the update. there was also a time (several months ago) where you can even offset the ejector/throwers diagonally up to 3 blocks but that was probably never intended as it got fixed a while ago

Ejectors are definitely not supposed to be adjustable, I have that set to false in the code you can see here. Though it sounds like if you have some other mod that lets you set throwers diagonally, those mods will usually override that setting to true, which is how you would have been able to adjust the ejectors.

Now with the 2.0.66 change I did have to make adjustable setting to true so the game can load, and then try and recreate the functionality to work as if it were false. I guess that means that if you had ejectors already built that were not set to 20 range, this update would mess that up.

On the flip side though, if you still have a save file from before the update and can send that to me, I think I can make an update that can preserve those settings and only enforce the 20 range on newly placed ejectors

if they were never supposed to be adjustable, it would be better i just bite the bullet and spend the time redesigning everything to use inserters again which sucks because hatches not taking up floor space was so nice. no point getting a special copy of the existing stuff and not being able to put new ones to adjust would be too tempting. only other mods i have running that do with inserters is bob's adjustable inserters, change inserters drop lane (which is actually redundant), diagonal inserters (also redundant), inserter throughput

The limit was apparently added a long time ago, but the check just never actually worked until they fixed it in 2.0.66 lmao. As for why they even added it in the first place I have no idea
