I'm having various problems with bounce pads, and I'm not certain if there's just unspecified limitations to them or if these are just bugs.
First, thrower inserters seem very particular on whether they'll throw to a bounce pad depending on what inventory they're pulling from and what they're throwing to. For example, if I try to send biter eggs from a captured nest to a box via bounce pads, the inserter or ejector hatch will refuse to work unless there's a belt for it to land on somewhere along the path. Whether any set up will prefer that intermediary belt to be closer to the source or destination also seems random.
The other big issue I'm having is that director bounce pads are just all over the place right now. If I set up filters on it, it seems random on which direction the items will go or if they'll even bother respecting filters in the first place. In the filter menu, I find I have to put the filter on the row above the label instead of below. Even then, some items will just ignore filters altogether, or simply refuse to bounce in a certain direction no matter which filter the item is placed in. The bounce pad will even light up with the correct directional color, but the item will still bounce in the wrong direction, ignoring the filter.
