Well, there's already something similar: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/AmmoGroup
Although it is not yet updated to 2.1, I already have a compatibility file for that. I could do the same treatment for your mod if the other one won't be updated until the non-experimental/stable release of 2.1.

In other words: Yes, I like it, but I think it is on my end where the compat file should be, as I know all the new recipes. Well in the end, there's the item subgroup "alternative-ammo" which can easily be moved into a new group without any knowledge of what items are within that subgroup.

Yeah, it is intended as a drop-in replacement for that one. If you want, we can move the compat to your side.

Also casting ballistic missiles from https://mods.factorio.com/mod/missile-defense-systems-redux

Rockets would be biochamber-based recipes. The recipes wouldn't change at all but they can then profit from the built-in +50% bonus.
Another thing: I might put the grenades into the biochamber as well, I'm not happy having them casted. I don't quite think it fits the theme.

About the more-ammo redux: I tried the 2.0 vesion once too, but didn't finished the compatibility file back then. I might give it another try soon.

more-ammo-redux compat is coming with the next update.
