Also I can still build MK1 despite researching the upgrade? Should I just uninstall/reinstall (the mod)?

Update: I figured it out. Did a reinstall of mod. But now I get the error that something went wrong, and it explodes. I saw a thread about it though, I'll investigate.

Future readers: Once the MK2 is in space hub inventory, drop a GHOST of the "mk2" item. It's a radar dish looking item.

This is also how it is described (FAQ):

Place the pack to build the controller and install the ion cannon in the orbit of the current planet.

if you uninstall a mod. you will lose the research and all items. this is the case with all mods.
