Orbital Ion Cannon (Space Age Edition)

When you need to call down the thunder to deal with those pesky biters, launch a rocket with an ion cannon into orbit and show the bugs who's boss.

i [DONE in 3.5.2] platform version?

when you make the SA update can we get 2 kinds of IC? one that you launch orbital like the base game model and one that can be installed on a platform that can be loaded with power cells or similar to shoot without having a silo when you arrive at a new world?

possibly, but probably not as quickly as you would like.
i want to play space age myself first to convince myself of the necessity and feasibility.

1st) the ion cannon now has a weight of 1000kg
and if at least 1 of them in the hub inventory, build a radar to install them for the current planet.
I have this tested on the first platform on nauvis. not yet tested if you move the platform to an other planet.

Hi, when you say build a radar, does that mean you need to build a radar on the space platform to add more ions cannons?
Would it be possible to instead have the Ion Cannon as a building that you can place down instead?

I thought about that too, but decided against it
a) it would give the impression that you could take the ion connon with you, which is not the case
b) it would cost me time, which is always in short supply.

You could also place a satelite launcher building to be able to launch satellites.
but that would be even more work.

So the radar is a compromise with the least effort ;-)

BTW you can remove the radar, after launch, it does not have to stay there permanently.
