I'm having an issue where the orbital ion cannons will only auto target new nests as they are exposed by radar scans. They will not auto target existing nests that are inside the regular radar range.
Yes, this is not an issue.
Auto targeting can be used in radar range or new nests in visible regions.
Nests in regions made visible by yourself (new radar) can easily be targeted by yourself.
