Working my way through this planet for the first time. Struggling a bit with power production.

I brought some solar panels with me when I first set out, but I am unable to build accumulators as it says the ambient magic on the surface is too high. But I watched a few videos on youtube explaining how the planet works and they all have accumulators to feed power overnight! I dont see anything in the tech tree that unlocks the ability to build accumulators on the surface, or an alternative glass recipe for accumulators. Is this some recent change? What is the preferred method of generating power now? Train in water and build a heating tower to solid fuel / rocket fuel -> heating tower -> heat exchanger hooked up to a water tank?

Yes, it's a recent change. There is no intended solution, you approach seems good though

Thanks for the reply! I did end up doing the above and it works fine that way! I was really pulling my hair out because the people in videos using accumulators lol. I guess I could have looked through the change logs!
