Since trying space age, whilst trying to set a Enable/Disable circuit on a inserter, the 'iron-ore' is missing from the list. iron-sulfate-ore and iron-oxide-ore are there, as is native copper. but not iron-ore :)
I fixed it by pippetteing from the mod filter suggestions instead, huzzah!
