Configurable Custom Electric Mining Drill
This mod adds a configurable Custom Electric Mining Drill, its primary purpose being to reduce the tedium of placing many structures that do the same basic thing. It unlocks along with the vanilla version.
Features:
- Configurable mining speed & area size: Both can be individually configured within wide limits.
- Configurable module slot amount: Can be configured within the range of 0-20.
- Auto-scaling energy use and pollution rate: Both scale with the mining speed in order to preserve game balance.
- Optional recipe cost scaling: If enabled, recipe ingredient cost will scale with mining speed. Entity health will scale somewhat as well. Cannot fall below original values.
- Custom Resource Categories: It is possible to expand the kinds of ores the drill can mine, by writing their resource category ID in a text-field in game settings as part of a comma-separated list (like hard-resource from [SE]).
- Custom colour and sound: The drill has also received a nice, orange colour as well as a slightly higher-pitched mining sound effect to better differentiate it from its vanilla counterpart.
Regarding large mining areas: Since the electric mining drill is (still) not capable of skipping over ore patches for which it lacks the appropriate mining fluid, uranium ore and some mod ores are likely to block the mining of other resources more often when mining area size increases. Several mods can circumvent this issue in different ways:
- Filter Mining Drills by Xorimuth uses new functionality in Factorio 2.0 to easily filter the desired resources from the mining drill's GUI. Recommended as first option!
- Cursed Filter Mining Drill by L0771 provides a filter tool that can replace any mining drill with a variant that mines only the selected ore type. It has broad mod compatibility.
- My own mod, Zar's Nuclear Tweaks, adds an option that moves the need for Sulfuric Acid in the mining of Uranium Ore to a new Yellow Cake Processing stage instead.
