Bluetonium

by S6X

Adds plutonium (which is blue, of course!) in order to make the nuclear fuel cycle a bit more complex. Now standalone for 2.0.

This mod is based on the excellent Nuclear Fuel by GotLag. This was originally just a cosmetic addition to Nuclear Fuel to make the orange plutonium blue instead, but as of 2.0 it is now a standalone mod that adds a whole lot more... but it still makes the plutonium blue, of course.

As the mod's name would suggest, it adds plutonium, which can be reprocessed from spent fuel cells. You can create MOX or plutonium fuel cells, and also use plutonium to create atomic bombs, which only costs 5 Plutonium, or 15 in Space Age. Thorium is also added. It is usually a byproduct of other mining, so you can get it by putting stone in a centrifuge. Thorium + U-235 or Pu creates a thorium fuel cell that, after it is used up, you can reprocess to get more U-235. (In real life you'd get U-233, but I wanted to keep it simple)

This mod now also incorporates a port of Advanced Centrifuge by kiratu11, but you can disable it if you'd rather just use the standard centrifuge. For Space Age, I have made a "frozen" graphic for use on Aquilo.

You can optionally tint the reactor glow according to fuel type, and can also tint the centrifuges during reprocessing. If you're using Space Age, it also allows you to change the appearance of the fusion power cells to not look so much like this mod's plutonium fuel cells.

It also uses the sound Radio Active by Mike Koenig under CC BY 3.0.

If you have Space Age and want something similar for fusion, take a look at Bluetonium Fusion.
