I'm guessing there's a particular event that causes trouble as it spawns?
After this pops up, I'm sent back to the main menu. The best method I can take to continue playing is loading a save from about 5 minutes ago and hopefully leave the planet before that event pops up. It's getting more and more frequent as I clear non-bugged events.
