Tree Collision (ZarSasha's Fork)
This is an updated fork of the mod Tree Collision by skomick. It has the same purpose of reducing the collision box sizes of trees so that forests can be traversed much more easily, but it has been improved in a couple ways:
- Slightly broader application: Collision boxes are reduced not only for all the normal, naturally generated trees, but also for the Nauvis tree variant that can be planted in Space Age.
- Quiet planted forests: A particularly annoying, ambient critter sound effect has been removed from the planted trees (the sound was far too frequent, and artificial mono-culture forests should have less noises, not more!).
There are a few downsides to keep in mind:
- The player can traverse forests more easily, but so can enemy creatures.
- Due to the smaller hit-boxes, the shotgun does not work well for clearing forests.
- Trees may be planted at much higher density, while naturally generated forest tend to become a bit denser.
Alternatively, you can configure the mod Squeak Through 2 to remove collision from trees and planted trees entirely (using the type "tree" and the name "planted-tree"), while still preserving their original collision boxes. On one hand, this means that even vehicles can pass through forests, and weapons cannot be used to clear them, but on the other hand, that proper distance for naturally generated and planted trees remain as intended.
NOTE: Adjusted some values and removed some features in v1.1.0.
