Superheat Gas Boiler

This mod is not standalone and intended to be used with other mods. Adds superheat gas boiler that consumes fluids with fuel_value, has max. consumption of 11.6 MW and generates superheated (500 °C) steam. Generates 120/s steam and can supply two steam turbines.

I've been looking for a good lightweight liquid fueled boiler for while now. I made a fuel customizer mod two days ago to work with barrels o' fuel, This mod will make a fine upgrade path to loading barrels into normal boilers.

You're welcome! If it will be some compatibility issues you can always text here and I'll consider updating this mod.

Appreciated, though from looking at it, there should be no issues, my mod only updates liquid/item/capsule fuel values and emission multipliers and your mod only adds a fluid-guzzling boiler. (Well, there is your methane processing patch, but that doesn't look like it's going to get updated.)

On second thought, why not have steam turbines unlock with the same tech? I don't think the normal steam engine gains any benefit from the superheated steam, so that would be a lot of wasted energy/fuel. On another note, the pollution seems extremely low. To the point that it's generating roughly 5% of the pollution per unit of energy, compared to a basic steam setup.)

If I had to go full balance brain, I'd also suggest halving energy output and lowering the temperature to 257.5 (120 steam/s, back-of-the napkin math, need to check this)., that way it's still a lot more capable than normal boilers, but not a 6x upgrade. (for reference, a nuclear generator outputs 40 MW, so 11.6 is a bit nuts)

I'd also suggest unlocking from (and allowing turbines to unlock from) the "flammables" research., given it makes sense and is a bit later in the tech tree while being gated behind oil processing, where you would ordinarily get access to gas.

These are just suggestions, though, I can always implement that stuff locally, but it makes sense to me and seems more in line balance-wise.

EDIT: whoops, I must've misread or something, I saw a methane applications mod for version 0.17

Something like this, I guess.

It's 3x the output compared to a normal steam setup and features reduced pollution, but you retain the incentive to build nuclear because the turbines aren't yet up to full capacity.

Thanks for feedback! This mod was initially made for Cerys Methane Applications (https://mods.factorio.com/mod/cerys-methane-applications) with these ideas in mind:

1) Make heating machine that can consume liquid fuel instead of items (methane, petroleum gas, etc...);
2) No need to remove waste as it is for nuclear setups (no need for belts or logistic network);
3) Can be started without electricity as it is for nuclear;
4) This heating machine should not produce much pollution (it must be convenient to be used for outposts on Nauvis);
5) This heating machine is not an intermediate between boiler setup and nuclear setup, it is an alternative to nuclear (that's why 500 °C);
6) Produce enough steam to supply 2 steam turbines (convenient for building and calculations);

Main idea - this boiler is not an intermediate, it's an alternative to nuclear setup (with it's own pros and cons).

No technology added - anybody can take this mod and apply it to their own.

Anyways, thank you for your suggestions! I recommend you to check Cerys Methane Applications, it can help to understand ideas described over and understand my vision of balance more precisely.

I think (if you want) you can make another mod that adds intermediate boiler as you describe over. You can just take code from my mod, add it to yours and change as you see fit.

Will do.

I've added a bunch of settings that allows full interoperability. Feel free to backport those, that would allow me to deprecate my version.
