Roboport Wagon Network

A cargo wagon that brings its own robot network. At any stop its robots build, repair and deconstruct, fill requester chests and empty active provider chests, then fly home before the train leaves. At a Robot depot stop the wagon is restocked from your base according to its loading requests, and everything else is unloaded.

Changelog

Version: 1.1.2
Date: 2026-09-30
  Changes:
    - A deployed wagon now keeps its cargo: you can see what it carries and add to it (by hand or with inserters) while its robots are out. The robots work from a small stock (one stack of each item) that is topped up from the wagon, and what they collect goes back into the wagon. Only robots leave the wagon while they work.
    - The wagon's side panel lists the items that are out of the wagon at the moment (the robots' working stock and what they carry, or at a Robot depot stop the items waiting to go to storage), so the wagon window plus that list shows everything the wagon has.
  Bugfixes:
    - Fixed a wagon's cargo being dropped on the ground when it packed up after something else (station inserters, or a player) had filled it while its robots were out. While deployed, the wagon only accepts as much as still fits back in with everything its robots hold; any limit you set on the wagon is respected.
    - At a Robot depot stop, loading no longer uses the space needed for unloaded items that are still waiting to go to storage.
Version: 1.1.1
Date: 2026-09-30
  Bugfixes:
    - Fixed "Could not open the loading request panel" when clicking Loading requests while standing at the wagon. The panel now opens both at the wagon and in remote view.
Version: 1.1.0
Date: 2026-09-26
  Features:
    - Roboport wagons now also deploy when their train stands still in manual mode for 2 seconds, so you can drive to the end of the track and let the robots build ahead. Driving off packs the robots back instantly, with whatever they carry; switching back to automatic waits for them as when leaving a stop. Can be turned off in the map settings ("Deploy when stopped in manual mode").
  Changes:
    - Switching a train to manual mode while it is stopped no longer recalls its robots.
Version: 1.0.0
Date: 2026-09-26
  Info:
    - First release.
  Features:
    - Roboport wagon: a cargo wagon that carries robots and deploys a robot network whenever its train stops. Construction robots build, repair and deconstruct; logistic robots fill nearby requester chests and empty active provider chests. The train waits for the robots to return before leaving.
    - At stops already covered by a roboport, the wagon lends its robots and cargo to that network and takes the same number of robots back when it leaves.
    - Robot depot stop: a train stop where base robots load the wagon according to its loading requests (set up like a requester chest) and unload everything else, except robots and repair packs. It can be built over an existing train stop.
    - Loading requests are kept when the wagon is mined, blueprinted, copy-pasted, cloned or upgraded.
    - Wagon status shown in its entity status and in a panel next to the wagon's window.
  Graphics:
    - Roboport turret on the wagon roof (with train colour), including on elevated-rail ramps, and icons for the wagon, the Robot depot stop and the technology.
