I uploaded a bug report to the Forum:

It appears that something about this mod was causing crashes for me with the Main Menu Simulations, which admittedly look quite funny with the 1x1 buildings, when it's not crashing.

This was fixed in 2.0.25:

For 2.0.25, I added minimum collision box restriction to cargo bays, cargo landing pads and space platform hubs. They are required to be at least 4x4 (or 2x2 if they don't define connections graphics). This will fix the crash.

The fix means that the mod won't crash in the menu simulations now because it never gets there:

   2.271 Failed to load mods: Error while loading entity prototype "cargo-landing-pad" (cargo-landing-pad): Collision box is too small, it should touch at least 4x4 tiles in the center when 'connections' are defined.
