King Jo's Phalanx CIWS

Adds the Phalanx CIWS to effectively destroy airborne targets. This turret will only target entities with the trigger_target_mask 'air-unit'. That means the player or entities that are able to be targeted and got the mask assigned to by other mods. A mod option can enable a turret version that also targets normal enemies! BRRRT inclusive!

i [Request] A new mod/turret for a red-science tier AA gun

1 year, 1 month ago

I want to turn on the "Normal Turrets aren't AA" option for ERM, but the issue is that the Vierling requires military and chemical science, and the CIWS needs Utility science. Can you please make a smaller, weaker tier AA that is available alongside base gun turrets? That'd be awesome. Perhaps a Starcraft missile turret?

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I don't play with the ERM mods so I'm not familiar with the requirements they bring. As a solution I think I'll just take the Siege Ballista mod that is under MIT license and modify it so you can have a red science AA gun. Until I maybe take a more suitable model and replace it in the future ^^

Awesome, can't wait!

And the ERM flying enemies spawn from the beginning of the game, so making it so normal turrets can't hit air units means you have to have something alongside normal turrets or else you're screwed.

Also, another option could be using this mod's sprite, since it looks sufficiently Anti-Air: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/K2_HMG_Turret

Dunno if I will add further turrets like e.g. a trebuchet. But so far you can use the ballista for early game anti air measures ^^

Thanks! Though unfortunately the flavor doesn't sit right for me in Factorio, especially when your first turret is a machine gun one.

I'm sorry to hear that ^^

Still, I don't want to seem ungrateful at all. Thank you SO much for taking your time to make it!
