Use explosives to blast holes in the ground and let them fill with whatever liquid the planet has.
Providing the player with new tools or adjusting the game interface, without fundamentally changing gameplay.
Version: 2.1.0
Date: 24. 08. 2026
Changes:
- Moved to a new mod portal page and renamed to "Explosive Excavation Continued". The old
page, explosive_excavation_unofficial_2_1, is deprecated. Existing saves are unaffected:
the item and technology prototypes are unchanged, so removing the old mod and enabling
this one keeps your charges. The two cannot be enabled at the same time.
- The item icon is now 64x64 and the technology icon 256x256, both with mipmaps, matching
base-game sizes. Neither is upscaled in game any more.
- The icons are Factorio's own cliff-explosives art with red and blue swapped. Thanks to
Ingo_Igel for the idea. See CREDITS.md.
- New thumbnail showing the four fills the charge produces, with the charge in the middle.
- Added LICENSE and CREDITS.md.
Bugfixes:
- Charges refunded from a space platform are no longer lost if they do not fit back in the
inventory. Whatever does not fit is now spilled on the ground instead of vanishing.
Version: 2.0.0
Date: 09. 08. 2026
Bugfixes:
- Fixed that the mod failed to load on Factorio 2.1.7 and later: RecipePrototype `category` was removed and merged into `categories`.
- Fixed that the item and technology icons pointed at `__Explosive Excavation__`, which is not this mod's name, so sprite loading failed.
- Fixed that blasting charges could be placed on space platform foundation; the tiles are now restored and the charges refunded.
Changes:
- Declared dependencies: base >= 2.1.14, optional Space Age, and incompatible with the original Explosive Excavation mod.
- Removed an unused icon and shrank the thumbnail from 1024x1024 to 256x256, cutting the download from 1.4 MB to about 180 KB.
- Planets are now identified through the surface's planet prototype instead of the surface name, so renamed and scripted surfaces behave correctly.
- The item now sorts after the Space Age terrain items instead of tying with artificial yumako soil.
