Dredgeworks

by Kubius

Ore patches now spill over into the sea as submerged variants. Dredge them up with new floating hardware, and build deeper into the blue with water-placeable refined concrete.

g Flotation platform as a Tile rather than ingredient?

In heavily modded runs, due to having multiple additional Inserter and Belt types, Dredgeworks ends up making a significant number of its floating duplicates. Obviously this is intentional, but after a while it really starts cluttering up the Logistics inventory/factoriopedia tab. Using the setting to have only the vanilla variants is an option to reduce the clutter, but of course that loses out on being able to use all the mod-added variants.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but could the Flotation Platform be used as a Tile instead of being a crafting component of a bunch of duplicates? Basically make it a landfill-like tile entity that can only be placed on water, and only allows Inserter and Belt type entities to be placed on it? That way the mod doesn't have to make duplicate recipes and is more inherently compatible with other mods' belts and inserters.

Due to how collisions work, "whitelisting" like that would require adding a collision with the "platform tile" to literally every other structure; it'd also be hard to make it "look floating" due to the limitations of tile replacement.

If you'd like to cut down on the UI clutter, you might try just limiting belt/inserter flotation and using refined concrete where applicable.

Understandable. Thank you for the explanation
