b Train won't schedule

Two things.

  1. It doesn't work with signals from Deadlocks stacking. Not sure if you're familiar with that mod but it generates signals dynamically when the mod starts that represent stacked items. If you use those signals nothing happens. For example if you use Coal signal as your Network ID it works, but the dynamic signal Coal Stack of 50 doesn't. And to be clear I mean using the signals for Network ID, as regular item signals it works fine.

  2. Not sure if this is intentional but the train dispatched from a depot doesn't return to a depot with the same Network ID. I have a depot with the Coal signal as a Network ID but once it's done with its run it goes back to a depot with the A signal as its Network ID.

Looking at the description I believe it's going back to a station with the same name, so I can uniquely name the station based on the network but that is a little unintuitive.

I'll take a look at deadlocks stacking, I've never used the mod but I'm not sure why it wouldn't just work by default.

Yes that is intentional behavior, and I agree that it is unintuitive, but I have not thought of a better behavior yet. Going back to any depot of the same name hits a sweetspot of very little runtime overhead and high expressive power for users of the mod.

I am debating in my head whether forcing trains to always return to the same depot is a better behavior. It would be more intuitive but also less flexible. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

Oh you know what, I can add a setting to depot combinators that lets the player select whether or not the train should return to the same depot.
