BLUF: Suggest adding Casting Sand (or similar) reagent for foundry production, for quality inheritance.
Just an idea to add an additional item reagent to fluid casting recipes in order to support quality production, instead of the upcycle approach.
Simple:
Sand + Light Oil -Assembler-> Casting Sand
Casting Sand + Fluid -Foundry-> [Part]
Additional steps could be added to offset the cost of easily obtaining higher qualities, compared to the resource sink of upcycling.
Complex:
Sand + Light Oil -Assembler-> Casting Sand
Casting Sand + [Part] -Assembler-> Soft [Part] Mold & [Part]
Soft [Part] Mold -Furnace-> [Part] Mold
[Part] Mold + Fluid -Foundry-> [Part] & garbage byproduct
I added these chains to my own game and found the process to be an enjoyable way of getting higher quality products where you would otherwise have to upcycle thousands of parts (holmium). A process that is exceptionally tedious with the expanded qualities mod.
