g Generic k2so compat tweaks

Hey!

Would you be willing to do some generic, non-balance related patches between k2so and different planets? I'm not talking about science pack conversions, I'm only talking about stuff like combining materials that are the same, but are registered with different names.

One of my space age concerns were different planet mods doing ad-hoc patches for stuff like positioning themselves on the map around other planets, but thesixthroc and kryzeth basically solved that in a way that basically works out of the box.
Would you be able to pick up a similar role for k2so or not?

I'm not talking about this mod in particular, but I also don't see a better place to contact you.

Hey. I know exactly what you mean. In fact, normalising names like that is a real problem. It would certainly help if modders didn’t add prefixes (such as ‘kr-...’). I think that’s a poor design choice, as it just makes mod compatibility unnecessarily difficult.
Can you give me specific examples of planet mods requiring name normalization with K2SO?
I’d like to take a look at them, but I can’t promise to develop a name normalization mod.

Cerys tries to do it by itself, and it came up with Paracelsin. You can probably replace names wholesale without caring for the different mods (maybe nothing more than marking optional dependencies to make sure you run after them). My main concern is keeping this completely generic and non-balance effecting code in one spot instead of having a lot of mods doing this in an ad-hoc manner.
I also have some of the code already, but I also don't have the full attention for it rn.

I can warn most of the big planet mods about this as well.

Do not feel pressured, you can say no. It also should be relatively small in scope, as it should not deal with tech cards.
