BerbCorp Double Heat Pipe Heating Radius

Doubles the vanilla heat pipe surface heating radius from 1 to 2 for Space Age heating layouts.

What it changes

  • Sets the vanilla heat-pipe entity heating_radius to 2.
  • Leaves heat pipe items, recipes, unlocks, graphics, temperature, heat capacity, and heat transfer unchanged.
  • Does not add a new tier or replace the vanilla heat pipe.

Why

Aquilo heating layouts can become fiddly when every machine needs to sit very close to a heat pipe. This keeps the same heat pipe and the same heat system, but makes each pipe cover a wider nearby area.

Compatibility

Requires Space Age. The mod changes only the vanilla heat-pipe prototype in the data stage.

Because it runs in data-final-fixes.lua, it applies late and should work with most mods that leave the vanilla heat pipe available. Mods that also overwrite heat-pipe.heating_radius may conflict depending on load order.

Balance

This is a focused convenience/balance tweak. It does not make heat travel farther through pipe networks, does not change heat throughput, and does not reduce heating energy requirements on machines.

Safe for existing saves

Safe to add to existing Space Age saves. Existing placed heat pipes use the updated prototype radius after loading the save with the mod enabled.

Removing the mod returns vanilla heat pipes to their normal heating radius.

All rights reserved while maintained. If this mod has not been updated for 18 months, it may be used under the MIT license.

BerbCorp-created visuals, thumbnails, icons, badges, logos, and promotional images remain BerbCorp assets. After the 18-month MIT fallback applies, those assets may be reused only together with this mod or a fork/continuation where BerbCorp remains first in the mod name and the BerbCorp logo/badge remains visible on the thumbnail.
