Angel's/Bob's Planet Routes

by V1irus

Angel's and Bob's route every basic intermediate through the full Nauvis chain, and Space Age's planet recipes need exactly those. This adds local ways to get the missing pieces from what each planet actually has. Numbers are taken from real extraction chemistry.

Changelog

Version: 0.5.3
Date: 2026-07-30
  Features:
    - New item, the ceramic board, and Vulcanus now builds its circuits on that instead of fibreglass. Sintered alumina in the foundry, 4 alumina for 2 boards.
    - Alumina ceramic is the real high temperature substrate. It's what power and RF electronics sit on when the part has to survive heat that would delaminate glass-epoxy, and aluminium nitride and beryllia are the only other two in common use.
    - It also fits this planet specifically rather than being a generic answer. Basalt is 14 to 16 percent alumina, a major constituent and not a trace, and pulling alumina out of basalt instead of bauxite is real research. omniab already opens water plus lava to alumina here and the water comes from my condenser, so the substrate is entirely local.
    - Falls back to the fibreglass board if there's no alumina in the pack. Glass-epoxy is the world standard, so that's never wrong, just less specific to Vulcanus.
  Info:
    - Carbon fibre would have been the wrong answer even where it's available. It conducts, and a substrate has to be a dielectric. In real electronics carbon fibre composite only ever gets bonded onto a board as a stiffener or heat spreader, never used as the insulating layer.
    - Gleba has no carbon of its own either. Carbon is 2 coal plus 20 sulfuric acid, or asteroid crushing on a platform, and Gleba has neither. Its carbon fibre recipe imports the carbon in vanilla too, so there's nothing to fix there.
Version: 0.5.2
Date: 2026-07-30
  Features:
    - Gleba: resin from bioflux, 1 to 2. Resin is tree sap, so the plant route is the honest one. Bob's had it as bob-resin-wood and Angel's disabled that when solder stopped needing it, leaving only the 10 heavy oil recipe, and Gleba has no oil.
    - Gleba: phenolic board variant with wood swapped for 15 yumako mash. FR-2, the cheap old circuit board, is phenolic resin on paper, so cellulose plus resin is what it always was. This unblocks advanced circuits on Gleba, which the fibreglass answer could not do there because Gleba has neither coal nor oil and so no plastic.
  Modding:
    - util.add_planet_variant swaps now take either a plain name or {name, amount}, so a substitute that is not worth one for one can say so.
  Info:
    - All three planets can now build the full circuit line locally. Different substrates each, which is roughly how it works in reality: fibreglass on Vulcanus and Fulgora, paper-phenolic on Gleba.
    - Ceramic substrates would be the most realistic answer for Vulcanus. Sintered alumina is the industry standard where heat matters, and Bob's has bob-alumina with an omniab route from water and lava. Would need a new board item, so not done.
Version: 0.5.1
Date: 2026-07-30
  Bugfixes:
    - 0.5.0 only fixed the electronic circuit on Vulcanus. Two more boards trace back to something that grew, so two more were still shut.
    - Vulcanus: basic circuit board now has a fibreglass variant too. Bob's substitutes that board for the electronic circuit in a list of recipes, lamps among them, so it isn't decorative.
    - Vulcanus and Fulgora: circuit board now has a fibreglass variant, which unblocks advanced circuits. It normally wants the phenolic board, and that wants raw wood rather than a board, so my Gleba and Fulgora board routes never covered it.
  Info:
    - Processing units never needed help. They run on the superior circuit board, which is already built from fibreglass.
    - Advanced circuits are still shut on Gleba. No coal and no oil there, so no plastic for fibreglass and no resin for phenolic either. Needs its own answer.
    - Resin has an oil route that survives, 10 heavy oil to 1. Angel's only disabled the wood one.
Version: 0.5.0
Date: 2026-07-28
  Features:
    - Vulcanus gets its own electronic circuit recipe, surface locked, with bob-wooden-board swapped for bob-fibreglass-board. Everything else stays as the mod stack built it, solder included.
    - That chain runs on coal alone. Fibreglass board is 1 plastic bar for 2, plastic is coal plus methane, and Angel's coal gasification gives 70 methane out of 5 coal.
  Modding:
    - New helper, util.add_planet_variant. Deep copies a recipe, renames the ingredients you list, locks it to a planet by surface pressure, strips icon and order, and turns off productivity, decomposition, intermediate use and recycling. Bails out and logs if the source recipe, the replacement item or the ingredient being swapped isn't there.
  Changes:
    - Dropped abpr-vulcanus-basalt-fibre-board, which was 200 lava to 8 bob-wooden-board. Rock doesn't become cellulose and the item is still a wooden board, so calling it basalt fibre fixed nothing. The variant above does it the way Space Age does with concrete from molten iron: a second recipe for the same output out of local material.
    - Kept the steam condenser, just not for the greenhouse any more. Angel's wants water in half its recipes and Vulcanus has no water tile and no ice.
  Info:
    - Greenhouse numbers for the record: 1 wood gives 1-9 seedlings, 10 seedlings plus 20 water gives 10-20 wood. Roughly 7x net, but you still have to fly the first wood in, and vanilla doesn't ask that on Vulcanus.
    - The Vulcanus lubricant recipe is actually redundant. Steam cracking mineral oil is one step and drops 10 residual gas per 100, so Angel's own recipe works there. Left it in for now, 40 to 40 against Angel's 40 plus 10 to 50.
    - Checked concrete and plastic, neither needs a route. Vulcanus has concrete from molten iron, Gleba has stone and bacteria iron and water, Fulgora drops concrete out of scrap at 6%.
Version: 0.4.0
Date: 2026-07-27
  Features:
    - Fulgora: desolder scrap, 40 scrap to 2 bob-tin-ore and 2 bob-lead-ore, 8s. Both out of one recipe because solder is an alloy of the two.
    - Fulgora: salvage board substrate, 20 scrap to 2 bob-wooden-board, 6s.
    - These are the highest yields in the mod on purpose. E-waste runs 1-4% tin by weight, rock runs single digit ppm.
  Changes:
    - Measured Fulgora. Scrap recycling drops advanced circuits at 3%, processing units at 2%, steel at 4%, batteries at 4%, concrete at 6%, copper cable at 3% and low density structures at 1%, all as items, so Angel's crafting chain never runs for those. Holmium solution only wants holmium ore, stone and water. The one gap left is the electronic circuit, which vanilla can craft there out of recycled iron and scrap copper cable.
  Bugfixes:
    - Took scrap-recycling out of an unlock list. It's a recipe name, not a technology, so it could never have matched.
Version: 0.3.0
Date: 2026-07-27
  Changes:
    - Rebuilt the Vulcanus lead, tin and fluorite recipes on the shape of Space Age's molten iron from lava: 500 lava plus calcite for flux, metallurgy, 16 seconds, stone as slag. I only changed the yield.
    - The yields come from geology. Basalt is roughly 8% iron, which is why vanilla hands you 250 molten iron. Lead is around 5 ppm and tin around 1 ppm, so lead gives 2 ore and tin gives 1, both with 10 stone.
    - Fluorite is CaF2, so the calcite there is the calcium and not flux. 10 calcite per batch, yield 4. Fluorine is around 400 ppm in basalt, well above lead and tin.
    - Dropped sulfuric acid from the lava recipes. Calcite on its own matches the vanilla recipe and is one input less.
    - Moved the lava recipes from the chemical plant to the foundry.
    - Gleba: spoilage to wood is gone. Rotting matter doesn't turn into timber. It's 20 yumako mash to 4 bob-wooden-board now, pressed fibre instead.
    - Gleba: lead and tin set to 100 stone plus 2 bioflux, 30 seconds, yields 2 and 1.
    - Steam condenser yield up from 60 to 80 water per 100 steam.
Version: 0.2.0
Date: 2026-07-27
  Features:
    - Gleba added. Space Age already gives you iron and copper there through the metal bacteria, so circuits are craftable in vanilla. Angel's blocks them behind a wooden board and solder.
  Changes:
    - Settled the scope rule for the whole mod: give back what vanilla Space Age can do on a planet and Angel's takes away, nothing past that.
    - Measured Aquilo and left it empty on purpose. Fluoroketone is fluorine plus ammonia plus solid fuel plus lithium, solid fuel comes from ammonia, lithium plate from lithium, water from melting ice, and ammoniacal separation gives ice and ammonia. All Space Age recipes Angel's never touches. No ore there in vanilla either.
    - No Gleba lubricant, same reason. Vanilla has no oil on Gleba.
Version: 0.1.0
Date: 2026-07-27
  Features:
    - First release. Opens local routes on the Space Age planets for the basic intermediates Angel's and Bob's rebuilt around Nauvis-only inputs.
    - Vulcanus: water by condensing steam, lubricant from mineral oil, lead and tin ore, fluorite.
    - Every recipe carries surface conditions on its planet's exact surface pressure, so none of it shows up anywhere else. Nauvis is 1000, Vulcanus 4000, Gleba 2000, Fulgora 800, Aquilo 300.
    - No productivity, no decomposition, no intermediate use, no recycling on anything added here.
    - Anything with a missing prototype gets skipped and logged with an [abpr] tag instead of crashing your game.
    - One startup toggle per planet.
    - Runs in data-final-fixes, after Angel's overrides, Bob's rewrites and omniab-space-age-compat.
