Is there a way you can put in some kind of simplified AI program or building to control the machines? I loved the mod, the concept and the fun of having a mobile militia/mining yard. Even after watching a youtube tutorial and setting it up the frame drops and lag was unbearable and at some points unplayable. Without the full set of mods though even the turret car had no basic defenses so it just sat there and died.

The only vehicle that has a point without installing all the mods (and welcoming performance issues) are the miners and there are much better options. Even just a building that says: "Hey the player installed a 4 pillars around this location so go mine out everything there." At least give the stupid cars the ability to be a turret if they are sitting still as the mod said it could do!

That wouldn't help, it would be just as slow. The mod is in alpha though, once all the features are finished there will be more optimisation.
