Organized Solar System

Automatically organizes the positions of vanilla and modded solar system planets to better reflect the Space Age gameplay progression. The radial distances of planets are unchanged. Their angles are specified by a number called the 'tier', which can be overridden by the mod author. Tiers run from 0 (north of the star) anticlockwise to 6 (north-east of the star). Mods with no tier anssigned appear vertically below the sun.

Organized Solar System

Spatially organizes the positions of planets by 'tier', left-to-right across the screen, making it easier for modded planets to indicate where they fit in the Space Age gameplay progression.

The tier is a simple number, running from 0 (north of the star) anticlockwise to 6 (north-north-east). It is trivially easy for modders to set their planet’s tier by including a tier field on the planet prototype. Mods without a tier appear vertically below the star. We also maintain a list of tier fallbacks for mods that have not set a tier value.

This mod does not change the radial distance of planets, only their angle around the star.

Tier meanings

  • Tier -1: Planet remains in its original location
  • Tier 0: Pre-Nauvis
  • Tier 1: Nauvis & friends
  • Tier 2: First steps from Nauvis
  • Tier 3: Intermediate planets that may reward preparation
  • Tier 4: More involved planets that may depend on earlier progress
  • Tier 5: Aquilo and the vanilla endgame
  • Tier 6: Post-endgame planets and other oddities
