Would it be possible to add an Artillery gun to the Spidertron to use it as mobile artillery platform? Though considering how it works I don't think it would work with the normal CTRL+Tab combo maybe a special button combo to toggle to and from it? I think it would likely have fairly reduced range. Maybe half range or something and only be able to be fired manually using something like a "Artillery Spidertron Remote".

I was also wondering if it is possible to upgrade the cannon in the same way the other Spidertron weapons get upgraded when using the Spidertron Mk2 and Mk3. Since as it currently is it lags well behind in range.

Finally I did think about a Laser Weapon, but I can't figure out what role it would fill that the others don't already and also how to make it work considering that Lasers use energy and also aren't resisted by any bugs so it could be really OP.

Artillery Spidertron would be cool, and actually already exists as a separate mod: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/artillery-spidertron. I appreciate that it isn’t integrated into this one, but it’s something.

Upgraded cannons for Mk2/3 would be fairly straightforward to implement but it’s just quite a bit of boring (to me) data stage stuff and balancing.

I don’t think it would be possible to add a laser to a spidertron, and anyway you can do that in vanilla using Personal Laser Defenses in their equipment grids.

In summary, I’m not really interested in adding more features to this mod, but I’ll happily accept pull requests on github if someone else wants to.

No worries I wasn't really requesting a Laser weapon more going over my thoughts. I was aware that it was a seperate mod. But I felt that 4 of them was potentially to powerful. And felt that instead having it be intergrated with the weapon switching felt more natural.

Thanks for the reply. If I can figure out how Factorio mods work I will look into seeing if I can make it work. If you ever do feel like adding it well I wouldn't complain.

Hey, I added the MK2/3 cannons, but unfortunately they don't actually work. Turns out that the extended range MK2/3 shotguns also never worked because of the same bug.

Until https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=100049 is fixed, there's no point releasing what I've done :(

The devs had some helpful suggestions, so I was able to make it work! Just released in v1.2.4, and I also made cannon shells unable to collide with spidertron legs, so cannons are doubly useful now!

Thanks for the quick reply, so I feel that the nuclear cannon shells really need the increased range, are you planning on changing that with another update for SWS or should I delete the current version and install a previous ?? Is it ok to install an older version of SWS ??

I had noticed that train cars were very hard to select (only by clicking on the very edge of the car). Wasn't sure which mod or update was causing it so thank you for finding and fixing that one too.
